Your child got a seat. The AISSAC portal is showing an allotted school. Now there are three buttons staring at you - Accept, Reconsider, Exit.
Most parents freeze here. They don't fully understand what each button actually does. And because the deadline to respond is short, a wrong click can cost the seat permanently.
Read this before you touch anything.
The Three Options After Seat Allotment
After every round of AISSAC seat allotment, you have to log in and respond. The system gives you exactly three choices.
Option 1 - ACCEPT
You are happy with the school allotted. You want this seat.
Click Accept. That's it.
But Accept alone does not confirm admission. It only confirms your intent. After clicking Accept, you must complete all of the following within the deadline set by the allotted school:
Report to the medical centre assigned to you for a fitness examination. Once declared fit, physically report to the school with your child for document verification. Pay the school fees at that point.
Only after all three steps - medical, document verification, and fee payment - does your child's admission actually get confirmed. If you click Accept but skip any of these steps, the seat gets cancelled automatically. And once cancelled that way, you cannot participate in any further rounds either.
So Accept is not the finish line. It is the starting gun for the next set of tasks.
Option 2 - RECONSIDER
You got a seat but want a better school from your preference list. Maybe you got your 7th choice and think your rank is strong enough to get a higher preference in the next round.
Click Reconsider.
What happens: your current allotted seat is cancelled immediately and permanently. You go back into the pool for the next round of seat allotment. The system considers your remaining school choices from your locked preference list.
Two things to understand clearly here.
First - once you click Reconsider, the school from this round is gone. You cannot go back to it. Even if the next round gives you nothing better, that earlier school is no longer available to you.
Second - if you do get a new school allotted in the next round and you chose Reconsider again, the same rule applies. Each time you reconsider, you lose the previous allotment permanently.
Reconsider makes sense only if your rank is genuinely competitive for a higher-preference school and you are willing to risk losing the current one.
Option 3 - EXIT
You are opting out of the entire AISSAC process.
Once you click Exit, you are out. No further rounds. No seat in any Sainik School through AISSEE ↗ 2026. That result cycle is over for your child.
There is also an automatic Exit. If you are allotted a seat in any round and you do not respond within the given deadline - meaning you neither Accept, nor Reconsider, nor Exit - the system automatically treats your non-response as Exit. Your seat gets cancelled and you lose participation in all future rounds.
This is the most common mistake parents make. They see the result, think they have a day or two to decide, and miss the deadline. The portal moves on without them.

The One Thing That Trips Most Families
Parents sometimes think that clicking Accept locks the seat safely and they can complete medicals later at their convenience. It does not work that way.
Each school sets its own reporting deadline after every round. Some schools gave parents just two to three days to report for medicals after Round 1. If that window closes, the seat goes - regardless of the fact that you had clicked Accept.
The moment you click Accept, open the school's official website immediately. Find the reporting schedule. Mark it. Show up on time.
