Andhra Pradesh has two Sainik Schools.
Not one. Two.
Sainik School Korukonda in Vizianagaram district. Sainik School Kalikiri in YSR Kadapa district.
Both carry 67% state quota reserved for AP children. Both accessible through the same AISSEE ↗ examination every January.
For a state of 49 million people - Telugu-speaking, historically proud, educationally serious - two schools with a combined AP quota of roughly 100 Class 6 seats is a real structural advantage over states with no Sainik School at all. But it's also a field where preparation quality decides everything.
Most AP families are preparing incorrectly.
AISSEE has four sections. Class 6: Maths, English, GK, Intelligence. Class 9 adds Science and Social Studies.
Strong AP schools - CBSE ↗ boards, private tuition, competitive academic culture - address three sections. The fourth, Intelligence, they don't touch.
Pattern recognition, number series, analogies, spatial reasoning.
Not in AP state board syllabus. Not in CBSE. Not in any school in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Guntur, or anywhere else in the country.
A child from AP's best CBSE school opens the Intelligence section in January and encounters something that has never appeared in any exam, any textbook, any homework set. Ever.
Untrained accuracy: 20-25%. After 16 weeks of specific training from April: 70-80%.
That gap - on a 50-mark section - decides who gets the AP state quota seat and who doesn't.
Pattern recognition - the foundation
Every other Intelligence sub-type connects back here. Build this first.
What it tests: sequences with hidden rules. Derive the rule from examples - not apply a known formula. School trains application. AISSEE tests derivation. These are cognitively opposite.
Training arc from April - 16 weeks. Week 1-4, single-rule patterns. Week 5-8, compound patterns. Week 9-12, timed practice. Week 13-16, full AISSEE mocks with section diagnosis.
Week 16 from April: 70-80% accuracy. Week 10 from October: 50-60%. The 20% gap on a 50-mark section ends selections.
Number series - type recognition, not calculation
AP families - commercial, agricultural, technically educated - produce numerically confident children. The AISSEE trap: calculation replacing recognition.
AISSEE allows 45 seconds per question. Calculation takes 60-90 seconds for untrained children. Doesn't fit.
Type recognition - see the first three terms, know the series type, answer in six seconds - only builds through weekly practice across all 15+ AISSEE series types from April. Two months for functional recognition. Four months for automatic.
Analogies - three types, three different training needs
Telugu-English bilingual AP children start at 65-72% on verbal analogies without training. Real head start.
Numerical analogies don't benefit from language background. Logical/figure analogies don't either. Both need six weeks each.
Combined targeted training: 8-12 marks above the bilingual verbal baseline.
Spatial reasoning - the AP regional split
This is where AP's internal geography matters.
Coastal Andhra families - Godavari and Krishna deltas, flat terrain - start spatial reasoning at 18-25% first-mock accuracy.
Rayalaseema families - Kadapa, Kurnool, Anantapur, surrounded by Eastern Ghats and hill ranges - start at 25-35%.
Andhra-Karnataka border families - hilly terrain - start at 30-38%.
All three groups need the same six to eight week spatial training arc from April. But the flat delta children need the full arc plus the most consolidation time. For them, April start is not optional - it's the minimum.
By January from April start: coastal AP children reach 63-70%, hill-terrain AP children reach 65-74%.
Sainik School Korukonda Vizianagaram district, north coastal AP. 78 Class 6 seats - 57 for AP (home state boys), 5 for AP girls. Total AP-quota seats approximately 62.
Sainik School Kalikiri YSR Kadapa district, Rayalaseema. Similar seat matrix with 67% AP state quota.
Both are equally accessible to any AP domicile child through AISSEE. The exam score determines which school - children qualify for multiple schools and choose during counselling.
Telangana children: as of 2025-26, Telangana children are no longer eligible for the 67% home state quota at Korukonda and Kalikiri. They compete under the 33% other-state category. AP children retain full 67% home state advantage.
Andhra Pradesh's extraordinary historical depth - Satavahana, Ikshvaku, Pallava, Chalukya, Kakatiya, Vijayanagara, Qutb Shahi dynasties - creates historical awareness frameworks that children from newer, less historically layered regions don't have. AISSEE's ancient and medieval India GK components reward this directly.
Telugu literature and culture - one of India's oldest literary traditions, Adi Kavulu, the Mahabharata connection at Bheemavaram - creates cultural GK awareness.
Agricultural and coastal geography - Krishna, Godavari, Tungabhadra river systems, delta formations, coastal geography - embedded knowledge that AISSEE geography GK rewards.
Gap areas still needing targeted coverage: defence organisation specifics, constitutional article numbers, science GK static facts, current affairs format. Systematic coverage from April adds 10-15 marks.
Eight students per batch. Not twenty, not thirty. Eight - because with eight, the teacher knows by week four exactly which series type each child fails on, which GK area is still weak, whether English errors are speed or inference. With thirty, that conversation never happens.
One specialist per section. Weekly mocks from month one. Real AISSEE format. Real OMR. Real time. Section-wise diagnosis after every mock. October parent conversation. OMR practice from day one. Medical round preparation throughout.
NTA. Every January.
Class 6 - Age 10-12 years. March 31 cutoff. Absolute. Maths · English · GK · Intelligence Test
Class 9 - Age 13-15 years. March 31 cutoff. Maths · English · GK · Science · Social Studies
Check the date of birth right now. March 31 is the hard line. No exceptions.
Andhra Pradesh stretches from Srikakulam in the north to Chittoor in the south - 162,975 sq km. Families from Anantapur, Srikakulam, Nellore, West Godavari, Krishna - not all can travel daily to coaching centres in Vijayawada or Vizianagaram.
The Sainik school coaching online batch: same teachers, same weekly AISSEE-format mocks, same section-wise diagnosis from anywhere in AP. Live classes, recordings all week, Sunday mock, WhatsApp for doubts.
A student in a village near the AP-Karnataka border and one in Vijayawada city - identical preparation.
Families from other states compare notes - some checking Sainik school coaching in Telangana fees - because when preparation genuinely works, the district name stops mattering.
April - 8 months. All Intelligence training arcs complete. Spatial gap closes properly regardless of whether the child is from delta or hill terrain. GK covered systematically. January - prepared.
October - 3 months. Spatial barely starts. Pattern library at week 10. January arrives first.
Two Sainik Schools in AP. 67% quota. Two real opportunities. April preparation is what converts structural advantage into actual selection.
No guaranteed selections. Full programme. Real mocks. Individual attention. Honest updates.
