Under AISSEE ↗ reservation policy, 33% of seats at every Sainik School are open to students from any state - the other-states quota. Additionally, Meghalaya students can target Sainik School Goalpara in Assam, which is geographically the closest established Sainik School. Some Meghalaya students may also hold an Assam domicile through residence - in which case the 67% Assam home-state quota becomes accessible.

The exam is the same regardless of which school you target. Maths, GK, Language and Intelligence. 125 questions. 300 marks. 150 minutes.

What changes with no home-state Sainik School is the competition level. Students from other-states quotas compete more tightly. A strong All India rank matters more. That means preparation quality - specifically Maths strength and mock test volume - is even more decisive for Baghmara students than for students in states with their own Sainik School.

What the AISSEE Tests

Maths: 150 marks - 50 questions at 3 marks each. Half the paper. GK, Language and Intelligence: 50 marks each.

For students applying through the other-states quota, a strong All India rank is the primary lever. That means Maths performance - which carries half the paper - is the single most important preparation focus.

Minimum qualifying: 25% per subject, 40% aggregate - medical shortlist filter. For other-states quota, the cut-off is generally higher than the home-state cut-off at the same school.

Girls can apply for Class 6 at any Sainik School - 10% of seats reserved for girls at every school. Start early.
