Something significant happened for families in Bid - Marathwada district. Yogeshwari Sainik School in Ambajogai, Bid district, was added to the AISSEE 2026 as an approved New Sainik School. That means students right here, in Bid district, have a local Sainik School to target alongside the original Sainik School Satara.

Two options. One exam.

Sainik School Satara - India's first Sainik School - has 100 Class 6 seats. 67 reserved for Maharashtra domicile boys. Plus 10 girl seats. A child from Bid, Ambajogai, Parli, Georai or Majalgaon holds a Maharashtra domicile - and competes in the Maharashtra home-state pool for those 67 boy seats.

Yogeshwari Sainik School Ambajogai - a New Sainik School - works differently. 40% of its seats go purely on AISSEE All India rank, no domicile reservation. The remaining 60% go to students already internally enrolled. For outside applicants, only the 40% open merit route applies. A strong All India rank is needed - not just a state pool rank.

One exam prepares your child for both. The AISSEE is the same paper regardless of which school you are targeting.

What the AISSEE Tests

Maths, GK, Language and Intelligence. 125 questions. 300 marks. 150 minutes. OMR-based, offline.

Maths is 150 marks - 50 questions at 3 marks each. Half the paper. GK, Language and Intelligence are 50 marks each.

Content is CBSE Class 5 curriculum. The challenge is the format - OMR sheets under a running clock, four subjects in one unbroken sitting. A child who has never practiced this under pressure will make avoidable errors.

Full-length timed mock tests - fifteen to twenty before January - is the fix. Nothing else replicates the experience.

Minimum qualifying: 25% per subject, 40% aggregate - medical shortlist filter for old Sainik Schools. For New Sainik Schools through the 40% route, All India rank is the deciding factor.

Girls can apply for Class 6 at Sainik School Satara - 10 girl seats split home/other. Yogeshwari Sainik School Ambajogai is a day-boarding school - local girls in Bid district have a practical advantage there given the geography.
