In 1820, the British built a military cantonment here.
Deesa Field Brigade. Built specifically to protect the region between Abu and Kutch from dacoits, to guard the border where Rajasthan meets Gujarat. The cantonment had its own Catholic chapel. Four years later, they erected a Hawai Pillar - a tower to measure air pressure. Still standing. Renovated in 2013 as a heritage monument.
Before it was a potato town, Deesa was a garrison town.
That military history is still here. The bones of it, anyway. And families in Deesa today are thinking about sending their children toward exactly that world - defence, Sainik Schools, a uniform.
What most of them don't know yet is what AISSEE โ actually requires.
Deesa taluka ranks number one in India for potato production.
The ICAR Potato Research Centre has operated here since 1971. Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University runs a station here. Farmers from villages across the taluka's 148 villages bring produce to Deesa's markets.
This is a working, agricultural, commercially serious district.
And AISSEE preparation here is essentially absent.
Not because families don't care. Because the exam has one section that nobody - no school, no tutor, no coaching centre - covers properly without being specifically built for it.
The Intelligence section.
Pattern recognition. Number series. Analogies. Spatial reasoning.
Not in Gujarat Board. Not in CBSE. Not anywhere.
A child from a potato farming village near Deesa who has revised their textbooks for four months will open this section in January and go completely blank. The questions look nothing like school. The format is completely unfamiliar.
Not weakness. Not bad schooling. Just - nobody showed them this existed.
GK in AISSEE reaches corners school books don't go. Maths is formatted to mislead - same concept, different framing, built to catch children who know the answer but haven't seen the AISSEE style. English needs specific comprehension work beyond what schools build.
School revision handles most of the exam. The Intelligence section - it handles nothing there.
That's worth saying out loud.
This district is strategic. Sensitive borders. The Aravalli Range. Ambaji temple drawing pilgrims from across the region. Rajput clans from Rajasthan settled here generations ago.
And Gujarat has Sainik School Balachadi in Jamnagar. Same state. State quota - Deesa children compete within Gujarat only for reserved seats. Not against Bihar or UP. Just Gujarat.
That's a real structural advantage. But only if the child clears AISSEE first.
Eight students per batch. Always.
Not because of a brochure line. Because with eight, the teacher actually sees who's been wrong on reasoning questions five weeks running. Stops. Finds the exact problem - series format? spatial type? analogy structure? - and fixes it. In October. When there's still four months left.
The program -
Parents hear the honest version in October. Not after March results.
NTA. Every January.
Class 6 - Age 10-12 years. March 31 cutoff. Maths ยท English ยท GK ยท Intelligence Test
Class 9 - Age 13-15 years. March 31 cutoff. Maths ยท English ยท GK ยท Science ยท Social Studies
Stop here. Check the date of birth right now.
March 31 is absolute. One day past it means a full year's wait. No exceptions. Families across Deesa taluka's 148 villages miss this detail every cycle because nobody tells them early. Check before anything else.
Deesa taluka has 148 villages. Most families here are agricultural. Daily travel to coaching in Deesa city for a ten-year-old has real complications - especially during harvest season.
The Sainik school coaching online batch removes that. Live classes on fixed days. Recordings available all week. Sunday mock test every week. WhatsApp for doubts.
A student in a potato farming village outside Deesa and one in the city - same teachers, same tests, same breakdown after every mock. No version difference.
Families from other states compare options too - some checking Sainik school coaching in Telangana, others looking at Sainik school coaching in Telangana fees - because when preparation genuinely works, the village name stops being an obstacle.
Two paths. Same exam. January.
April - eight months. Content done by July. Weak areas found in August, fixed through September. October, full mocks. December, calm. January - child walks in prepared.
October - three months. Everything compressed. Always behind. January comes before the preparation does.
Same paper. Different child in that hall.
No guaranteed selections.
Full syllabus. Real mocks. Individual attention. OMR practice. Medical round awareness. Honest parent updates. Everything within our control - done properly, without shortcuts.
Deesa built its reputation on patience. Potato crops take months. Good preparation takes months. Both reward the family that starts early and doesn't cut corners.
After that - your child and the paper.
