The Sutlej river crosses into Pakistan from Fazilka district.
Southernmost Punjab district. Created July 2011 from Ferozepur. Named after Mian Fazil Watoo, a local notable. Three borders: Pakistan (west), Rajasthan (south), and it contains Abohar - the kinnow capital. Population 1,027,143. Bagri and Punjabi bilingual - Bagri carrying Rajasthani influence from the desert border.
Punjab has Sainik School Kapurthala - 67% Punjab state quota. Fazilka families compete within Punjab only.
Pattern recognition, number series, analogies, spatial reasoning. Not in any school curriculum. Untrained: 20-25%. After 16 weeks from April: 70-80%.
In Punjab's state quota pool, most families know the school exists. Fewer families train specifically for the Intelligence section. This is where selection margins are created.
Pattern recognition - the 16-week non-negotiable arc
The training builds through four sequential phases. Each is prerequisite for the next.
Phase 1: Scanning reflex. Automatic eye-movement when viewing a sequence - orientation, count, shading, form checked without conscious effort. Forms over weeks 1-4.
Phase 2: Compound detection. The check for residual unexplained variation after applying Rule 1. This parallel cognitive task is only possible when Phase 1 is automatic (i.e., no longer requiring conscious effort). Forms over weeks 5-8.
Phase 3: Speed. Full process in 30-40 seconds. Weeks 9-12.
Phase 4: Consolidation through mocks and diagnosis. Weeks 13-16.
Final accuracy: 70-80%. October gives Phase 2 half-formed: 55-60%.
Number series - the Bagri border-commerce arithmetic trap
Fazilka's border trade and agricultural economy produces children with strong commercial arithmetic. The same profile that AISSEE ↗'s number series section traps.
The issue is not accuracy - it's time. A child calculating second-order AP or Fibonacci takes 60-90 seconds. AISSEE allows 45.
Type recognition takes 6-10 seconds. Built through April practice across all 15+ series types. October practice covers roughly half.
Analogies and spatial reasoning
Verbal: Punjabi-Bagri bilingual. Bagri's distinct Rajasthani vocabulary adds breadth. 65-72% verbal accuracy without training. Numerical and logical: 6 weeks each.
Spatial: Flat Fazilka plains near Pakistan border. First-mock: 17-22%. April training: 61-68%. October: 43-51%.
Sutlej river crossing into Pakistan via Fazilka: India's major rivers and their international flow - testable physical geography.
Fazilka's triple-border position (Punjab-Pakistan-Rajasthan): India's southwestern Punjab geography - testable.
Bagri dialect region: linguistic geography of Punjab-Rajasthan border - testable.
India-Pakistan border districts and their strategic significance - testable defence geography.
Eight students. One specialist per section. Weekly mocks. Section-wise diagnosis. October conversation. OMR from day one.
Class 6 - Age 10-12. March 31 cutoff. Class 9 - Age 13-15. March 31 cutoff.
