Sainik School Kazhakootam in Thiruvananthapuram is Kerala's dedicated Sainik School, established in 1962. It has 74 Class 6 seats. Of those, 49 are reserved for Kerala domicile students. A child from Kannur, Thalassery, Payyannur, Mattannur or Iritty holds a Kerala domicile. They compete only within that Kerala home-state pool - not against every student in the country.

What Stops Well-Prepared Children from Getting In

The AISSEE ↗ covers Maths, GK, Language and Intelligence for Class 6. All CBSE Class 5 curriculum. Most children in Kannur schools know this content.

Eligibility

Girls can apply for Class 6. Sainik School Kazhakootam has 10 girl seats - with Kerala domicile girl seats within that allocation. Those seats are competitive. Starting a year before the exam is not optional.
