Hindi or English? Your choice. At sainikguru.com, our military school coaching uses both. Videos. Charts. Models. Everyone learns differently here.
Sainik School Purulia, established 1962, is West Bengal's own Sainik School. We build the plan around the WB state-quota edge that Kolkata families hold.
Kolkata has CBSE, ICSE, WBBSE state-board and Bengali-medium schools. AISSEE tests the CBSE Class 5 syllabus, so we bridge that gap subject by subject, bilingually where needed.
No Kolkata school teaches pattern recognition, spatial reasoning or number series. We drill the Intelligence section from day one, since it usually decides the cut-off.
Kolkata traffic makes daily travel hard for a young child. Our live classes reach students at home across Salt Lake, Behala, Garia, Dum Dum and Howrah.
Full-length timed OMR papers every Sunday, reviewed individually. Fifteen to twenty before January, so the real exam feels familiar.

Real stories from families whose children prepared with Sainik Guru.
"My son was strong in academics but the Reasoning section was completely new to him. The teachers worked on Intelligence separately, and the weekly OMR mocks made the actual exam feel familiar. He cleared AISSEE for Sainik School Purulia in the first attempt."
Subhankar Banerjee
Salt Lake, Kolkata
"With Kolkata traffic, taking a young child to a coaching centre every day was not possible. The online batch was perfect. Live classes daily, real teachers, tests every Sunday. My daughter prepared for Class 6 from home and never felt she missed a classroom."
Rupa Chatterjee
Behala, Kolkata
"My boy studies in a Bengali-medium school, so we worried about the CBSE-based questions. The coaching bridged that gap properly, especially in Maths, and the teachers explained patiently in both languages. OMR practice was done well before the exam."
Anirban Das
Howrah, West Bengal
"We joined the online batch from Dum Dum. The GK and current affairs tests really helped my son improve. A bit more individual attention was needed at the start, but overall the preparation was structured and honest."
Sourav Ghosh
Dum Dum, Kolkata
"What I valued most was the honesty. No false promises of guaranteed selection, just a clear plan and weekly subject-wise updates on where my child stood. Fees were reasonable for the quality of teaching. Highly recommended for Kolkata families."
Moumita Sen
Garia, Kolkata
Find answers to common questions about our coaching programs
Kolkata has carried the Army at its core for centuries. The Eastern Command of the Indian Army has its headquarters right here at Fort William, the old fortress on the banks of the Hooghly. This was the capital of British India, the city where much of the country's military administration was once run. The uniform is woven into Kolkata's history, not a distant idea.
So when a Kolkata child dreams of the Army, Navy or Air Force, the path is real. But the first gate is a hard exam: the AISSEE ↗ for Sainik School. That is where Sainik Guru comes in.
For over a decade we have prepared Kolkata students for AISSEE, RMS and RIMC. Our coaching starts from one honest truth, a Kolkata child has specific needs. Strong schools, but a wide split between CBSE, ICSE, WBBSE state-board and Bengali-medium students, and very little AISSEE-focused coaching in the city. We build the programme around that reality, not against it.
This is the first question most families ask. West Bengal students fall under the state quota for Sainik School Purulia, established in 1962 and the state's own Sainik School. A Kolkata child competes within the WB quota, so Purulia is the home-state target. The exam pattern is set nationally and the merit list is drawn state-wise.
Being a Kolkata student does not soften the paper though. AISSEE is the same exam everywhere. Only preparation turns the state quota into an actual seat.
Here is something specific to Kolkata. The city has CBSE and ICSE schools alongside a very large number of WBBSE state-board and Bengali-medium schools. The AISSEE is built on the CBSE Class 5 syllabus. A bright child from a WBBSE or Bengali-medium school can lose easy marks simply because the framing and language of the questions are different, not because they lack ability.
We bridge that gap subject by subject, bilingually where needed. Maths gets the heaviest attention because it is half the paper, 150 of the 300 marks. GK, Language and Intelligence carry 50 marks each.
Here is the honest part. Kolkata has hard-working students and serious parents who value education deeply. And still, the Intelligence section catches almost every Kolkata child cold in January.
It is not about ability. No school in Kolkata, CBSE or WBBSE, teaches pattern recognition, number series tricks, mirror images, cube nets or paper folding. School rewards memory and neat work. The Intelligence section rewards a different skill, spotting hidden rules fast under a ticking clock. The child who drills AISSEE-pattern problems from April gets there. The one who starts in October usually runs out of time before the pattern library is built.
Kolkata traffic alone makes daily travel to a far coaching centre painful for a ten-year-old. That is why our live online batch matters. Same teachers, same Sunday OMR mocks, same study material, delivered to the student's home, whether you are in Salt Lake, Behala, Garia, Dum Dum or across the river in Howrah. Families from across West Bengal join the same batch.
For families who want the residential setup, the offline option with hostel is there, with proper food, a monitored study hall and wardens on duty. Distance stops being the barrier, and the Purulia advantage stays within reach.
Miss the October window and the child waits a full year. Every batch, one or two families forget. We remind them twice. We try hard so it is not you.
No guaranteed-selection drama from our side. What we offer is a full programme, real mocks, individual attention and honest updates. Fees are kept affordable with no hidden costs, because not every Kolkata family wants to spend a fortune on coaching, and we know that.
Kolkata has sent its children into the forces for generations, with the Eastern Command itself headquartered at Fort William. Give your child a structured shot at carrying that forward. Reach Sainik Guru today, fill the form, and we call back the same day on working days.
