What the AISSEE Actually Tests

The exam is conducted by NTA, offline, on OMR sheets. Class 6 paper: 2.5 hours. Class 9 paper: 3 hours. No negative marking - but every unanswered question is still a lost mark.

Four subjects for Class 6: Mathematics, General Knowledge, Language and Intelligence. Scoring well in all four on the same day, under time pressure, while filling OMR bubbles correctly - that is a skill. It does not come from reading textbooks alone. It comes from doing it again and again before the real day arrives.

After the written test, shortlisted students go through a medical examination and e-counselling. Registration opens in October, exam in January, results by March. Families who start preparation in September are already late.
