Uttar Pradesh has two dedicated Sainik Schools - Sainik School Jhansi and Sainik School Mainpuri, both running under the Ministry of Defence. Between them, they hold significant capacity for UP domicile students.

At Sainik School Mainpuri, 60 out of 90 Class 6 seats go to Uttar Pradesh domicile students. At Sainik School Jhansi, 54 out of 80 Class 6 seats are reserved for UP students. That is the home state quota at work - and a child from Lakhimpur Kheri holding a UP domicile walks into a much smaller competing pool than a student from outside the state.

Eligibility

Girls can apply for Class 6. Both Sainik School Jhansi and Mainpuri have 10 girl seats each in Class 6, with 7 reserved for UP domicile girls at each school. Seven seats per school for the whole state - that is competitive. Start early.
