Kavaratti. Agatti. Minicoy. Androth. Wherever your family lives in Lakshadweep, the AISSEE ↗ date does not change. January. Same paper. Same OMR sheet. Same cut-offs.
What does change - and what puts Lakshadweep students at a structural disadvantage - is access. There is no cluster of AISSEE coaching institutes in Kavaratti the way there is in Kochi or Coimbatore. Most families here have two choices: send the child to the mainland for months, or try to prepare without proper guidance and hope for the best.
Neither of those is a real plan.
At SainikGuru, our online program has been built for exactly this situation. Students from remote Union Territories - places where offline coaching was never an option - have used it to clear the AISSEE. It works when the structure is right.
Lakshadweep is a Union Territory. Under AISSEE reservation policy, 67% of seats at the Sainik School a candidate applies to are reserved for home UT candidates. Your child is not competing against students from every state in India. They are in a much smaller pool.
That is a real edge. But domicile alone does not get anyone admitted. The seat still goes to whoever scores higher within that pool. A child who holds a Lakshadweep domicile certificate but has never done a timed mock test on an OMR sheet is not prepared - they are just eligible.
Preparation is what converts eligibility into admission.
There is no Sainik School located within Lakshadweep itself. Students from the islands typically apply to nearby Sainik Schools - Sainik School Kazhakootam in Kerala being the geographically closest option, where Kavaratti is even listed as one of the AISSEE exam centres. This makes the Kerala home state quota relevant for some families - but for Lakshadweep domicile holders, the reservation policy applies based on their UT domicile when they apply to the school of their choice.
The point is this - you can apply, your child can compete, and the domicile advantage is real. But none of that matters without preparation that matches what the exam actually demands.
NTA conducts the exam offline, on OMR answer sheets. Class 6 paper: 2.5 hours. Class 9: 3 hours. No negative marking.
Subjects for Class 6: Mathematics, General Knowledge, Language and Intelligence.
Most students from the islands are academically capable. The problem is not subject knowledge - it is exam-readiness. Filling OMR sheets under a running clock, managing time across four subjects, staying composed when a question looks unfamiliar - these are practiced skills. They do not come from reading notes.
Live daily classes - real teachers in real time, not a pre-recorded video playlist.
Weekly OMR mock tests - timed, full-length, exact AISSEE format. A student who has done fifteen of these before January is a different kind of calm on the day.
Small batches - your child is not one face in a crowd of sixty. If they are struggling, the teacher notices and we address it.
Complete study material - delivered digitally. No courier delays, no waiting for books from the mainland.
Doubt sessions every week - a gap that sits unaddressed for a month becomes a problem on exam day. We clear it early.
Subject-wise parent updates - honest, regular, specific. Not a vague "doing fine."
