The name means elephant tooth.
Sai (elephant) + ha (tooth) in Mara language. Old tradition holds that elephant tusks were found here in large numbers. Saiha - now officially Siaha - is the headquarters of the Mara Autonomous District Council, governed under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Myanmar border. Least populous district in Mizoram (56,574). Altitude 1,225m. Literacy 90%.
Mizoram has Sainik School Chhingchhip in Serchhip district. Mizoram state quota applies. All Mizoram families compete within Mizoram only.
Pattern recognition, number series, analogies, spatial reasoning - absent from every school syllabus. Untrained: 20-25%. After 16 weeks from April: 70-80%.
This gap is identical for children from Saiha's 90% literacy district and from a 60% literacy district elsewhere. Intelligence is school-curriculum-independent.
Pattern recognition - four phases, 16 weeks minimum
Phase 1 (Weeks 1-4): Scanning habit. Child learns to check orientation, count, shading, form. Single-rule sequences. 38-45%.
Phase 2 (Weeks 5-8): Compound detection. Two simultaneous rules. The verification habit - "Is there unexplained variation after Rule 1?" - takes weeks 5-8 to form. 55-65%.
Phase 3 (Weeks 9-12): Timed conditions. 65-72%.
Phase 4 (Weeks 13-16): Full AISSEE ↗ mocks, section diagnosis. 70-80%.
October start: Phase 2 half-formed by January. Compound patterns catch children who haven't consolidated this habit.
Number series - recognition over calculation
15+ types. Weekly practice from April across all types. Each type seen 15-20 times. By August: functional recognition. By November: automatic.
Prime series (2, 3, 5, 7, 11): cannot be calculated. Recognition only. Trained in weeks 12-14 of the April programme. October starters rarely reach this type before January.
Analogies and spatial reasoning
Verbal: Mara language background, multilingual with Mizo, Hindi, English. 67-73% verbal accuracy without training. Numerical and logical: 6 weeks each.
Spatial: 1,225m altitude, hilly terrain bordering Myanmar. Strong spatial baseline. First-mock: 32-40%. April training: 68-76%. October: 52-62%.
Mara Autonomous District Council (Sixth Schedule): constitutional governance structure for tribal areas - specifically testable AISSEE constitutional GK. The Sixth Schedule vs Fifth Schedule distinction is a standard question.
Myanmar border: Mizoram's international boundary - testable physical geography.
Saiha/Siaha renaming context: administrative geography - testable.
Eight students. One specialist per section. Weekly mocks. Section-wise diagnosis. October conversation. OMR from day one.
Class 6 - Age 10-12. March 31 cutoff. Class 9 - Age 13-15. March 31 cutoff.
