A parent from Kandaghat messaged us in March.
Her son had been preparing on his own. Downloaded papers, watched some YouTube videos, read his school textbooks. Four months of this. Then January came, the exam happened, and the results were not what anyone expected.
She wasn't angry. Just quiet. Then she asked - "What should we have done differently?"
Everything, honestly. But mostly - started earlier, and started properly.
Chandigarh on one side. Shimla on the other. NH5 running straight through.
Solan district isn't remote. It's connected, growing, urban in patches - Baddi, Parwanoo, Nalagarh have whole industrial belts. And yet just above Solan town sits Kasauli, one of HP's oldest army cantonments. Dagshai, another. The Gurkha connection to this region goes back to 1815.
Service runs in families here. In Arki, Kandaghat, Ramshehar, Kunihar - you don't have to explain to people what a Sainik School is or why it matters. They already know.
But knowing why it matters and knowing how to crack AISSEE - those are two completely different things.
Here's what happens regularly with Solan students.
The child is doing fine in school. Maybe even topping. Maths is decent, English is okay. The family thinks - how hard can it be? A few months of prep, some sample papers, and we're good.
Then the results come.
AISSEE is not a school exam made harder. It's a different kind of test. The Intelligence section - most children have never seen anything like it before the first mock test. GK questions come from places that Class 5 textbooks simply don't cover. Maths problems are framed to mislead, not just to check if you know the concept.
School performance tells you very little about AISSEE readiness. That's the trap.
Proper coaching - started early - is the only thing that closes that gap reliably.
Small batches. That's the starting point, always.
A class of thirty gets through the syllabus. A batch of eight to ten gets through the syllabus and also fixes the child who keeps getting reasoning wrong on every test. That's a real difference and it shows up in results.
The rest of it -
Honest updates to parents. The difficult conversations happen early, not after January.
Conducted by NTA. Every January.
Class 6 - Age 10 to 12 years (as of March 31 of exam year) Maths ยท English ยท General Knowledge ยท Intelligence Test
Class 9 - Age 13 to 15 years (as of March 31 of exam year) Maths ยท English ยท GK ยท Science ยท Social Studies
One thing to check before anything else - your child's date of birth against March 31. That's the age cutoff. Off by even a few weeks and the child waits a full year. It's a detail that sounds obvious until a family misses it. Check it now.
Solan district spreads across 2383 villages. Arki, Darlaghat, Kunihar, Mamligh - these aren't places where daily travel to a coaching centre is realistic for a ten-year-old.
The Sainik school coaching online batch solves this. Live classes on fixed days. Recorded versions stay available all week. Tests every Sunday. WhatsApp for doubts between sessions.
A student in a village above Kandaghat gets exactly what a student in Solan town gets. Same teachers. Same weekly tests. Same honest breakdown after every mock.
Students from other states join too - some comparing Sainik school coaching in Telangana options, some checking Sainik school coaching in Telangana fees - because when the teaching is genuinely good, location stops being the issue.
April. Not August. Not when the notification drops in September.
By September, eight weeks have already gone. The families who started in April - they're doing their fifth or sixth full mock test by then. Their weak areas are already identified. Their GK gaps are being plugged. Their child is calm.
The families who start in September are still figuring out the exam pattern.
January is the same date for both children. The gap in preparation is not.
No guaranteed selections. That's not something we say here.
What we do say - your child will walk into AISSEE knowing the syllabus properly, having written real mock tests under real conditions, with their weak areas genuinely worked on rather than skipped over. Prepared, not hopeful.
After that, it's between them and the paper.
The parents who stay with the full program almost always say the same thing once it's done - "Whatever the result, we know we left nothing behind."
