Soreng is Sikkim's newest and smallest district.
Formed December 21, 2021, carved from Gyalshing district. 293 square kilometres - smallest in Sikkim. Population 64,760. Literacy 77.68%.
Yet among Sikkim's oldest monasteries - Rinchenpong Monastery in Rinchenpong and Sri Badam Phuntshog Ngayabling Monastery in Sri Badam - stand in this district. The district is one of Sikkim's most scenic - rolling agricultural hills between 400m and 1,400m, orange orchards, cardamom plantations, old monasteries. Soreng sub-division is one of four Gyalshing district sub-divisions.
No Sikkim state quota Sainik School. Soreng families compete under all-India open category.
In the national all-India competition, preparation quality is the only variable. Intelligence section: 20-25% untrained. 70-80% after 16 weeks from April. October: 55-60%. National competition doesn't accommodate October scores.

Week 4: Scanning reflex established. Single-rule sequences reliable. 38-46%.
Week 8: Compound patterns introduced and partially consolidated. 55-65%.
Week 12: AISSEE ↗ speed introduced. 65-72%.
Week 16: Full mocks, personalised diagnosis. 70-80%.
October start delivers week 10 by January: 55-60%.

Orange, cardamom, ginger farming. Practical arithmetic. AISSEE's complex series types (prime, factorial, Fibonacci) require recognition, not calculation. April practice.
Analogies and spatial reasoning
Verbal: Nepali-Limbu-Lepcha multilingual. 67-73% verbal accuracy without training. Numerical and logical: 6 weeks each.
Spatial: 400m-1,400m hilly terrain, orange orchards on slopes. Moderate-strong baseline. First-mock: 30-38%. April training: 67-75%. October: 51-61%.
