48 kilometres from Tezu, on the Lohit River in the Mishmi Hills, the sage Parshuram is said to have wandered after committing matricide at his father's instruction. His axe - which had stuck to his hand as punishment - fell away at this spot, cleaving the mountain. The cleft formed the Brahmakund. Parshuram bathed here and was cleansed.
