Sainik School Coaching in Udupi

Karnataka has two dedicated Sainik Schools - Sainik School Bijapur in Vijayapura district with 120 Class 6 seats, and Sainik School Kodagu in Kodagu district with 90 Class 6 seats. Under the standard reservation policy, 67% of seats at each school go to Karnataka domicile students. That is roughly 80 seats at Bijapur and 60 seats at Kodagu - reserved specifically for children holding a Karnataka domicile.

A child from Udupi, Manipal, Kundapur, Karkala or Brahmavar holds a Karnataka domicile. They compete only within the Karnataka home-state pool for those seats.

During e-counselling, students can rank both schools. That doubles the opportunity. A student who does not make the Bijapur cut may still get a seat at Kodagu - or vice versa. Ranking both intelligently is something families in Udupi should plan for from the start.

But none of this matters without a strong AISSEE ↗ score. The seats go to whoever scores highest within Karnataka. Domicile creates the opportunity. Preparation converts it.

What the AISSEE Tests - and What School Does Not Cover

The exam is OMR-based, offline, conducted by NTA. Class 6: 150 minutes, four subjects - Maths, GK, Language and Intelligence. Class 9: 180 minutes, five subjects. No negative marking, but every unanswered question costs.

The content is CBSE Class 5 curriculum. Most children in Udupi schools know it.

What they are not prepared for is the format.

OMR sheets under a running clock. Four subjects in one unbroken sitting. A question that looks unfamiliar mid-paper and costs two minutes of hesitation. A bubble filled one row off in the final rush. School exams simply do not simulate this. The only way to fix these errors is by doing full-length timed mock tests - repeatedly - before January. Not once. Not three times. Fifteen to twenty minimum.

Minimum qualifying marks are 25% per subject and 40% aggregate - but these just filter the shortlist for medical rounds. The real Karnataka cut-off at both Bijapur and Kodagu is considerably higher. A strong score, not just a passing one, is what gets a seat.

Eligibility

Girls can apply for Class 6 at both Sainik School Bijapur and Sainik School Kodagu - dedicated girl seats with Karnataka domicile quota within each school. Starting a year before the exam is essential.
