Washim was a royal capital 1,600 years ago.
Vatsagulma - the 4th-5th century CE capital of the Vatsagulma branch of the Vakataka dynasty. Founded by Sarvasena, second son of Pravarsena I. Population 1.20 million. Literacy 83.24%. Vidarbha. Maharashtra has Sainik School Satara with 67% Maharashtra state quota. Washim families compete within Maharashtra only.
Four sections. Three reward school study. One - Intelligence - requires specific coaching.
Pattern recognition, number series, analogies, spatial reasoning. None in Maharashtra state board. None in CBSE. A child from Washim's best school scores 20-25% on Intelligence without specific training. After 16 weeks from April: 70-80%.
Here is exactly what each sub-type requires and how the training works.
Pattern recognition - the 16-week development arc
The cognitive shift needed: from applying given rules to deriving hidden ones. School trains the first. AISSEE ↗ tests the second.
Training works in four phases:
Phase 1 - Weeks 1-4: Child learns systematic scanning. For any visual sequence, check rotation first (does orientation change?), then element count (does the number of objects change?), then shading (does a fill pattern cycle?), then shape type (does the form transform?). Each session: 50-60 single-rule questions. By week 4: 38-45% accuracy.
Phase 2 - Weeks 5-8: Compound patterns. The sequence follows two simultaneous rules. Child learns the verification habit: "After accounting for Rule 1, is there still unexplained variation? Find Rule 2." By week 8: 55-65% accuracy.
Phase 3 - Weeks 9-12: Timed conditions. AISSEE speed: each question in 30-40 seconds. The trained child runs the scanning checklist in 10-15 seconds, answers in 5-10. Week 12: 65-72%.
Phase 4 - Weeks 13-16: Full AISSEE mocks. Real OMR. Section diagnosis identifying weak pattern types by name. Personalised reinforcement. Week 16: 70-80%.
October start: Phases 1-2 complete by January, Phase 3 just starting. Accuracy: 55-60%.
Number series - why Washim's agricultural arithmetic creates a specific trap
Washim's cotton and soybean belt produces children with solid arithmetic. AISSEE number series exploits this.
The trap: confident calculators try to calculate every series. Some series respond to calculation quickly. Many don't. A child calculating a factorial series (1, 1, 2, 6, 24, 120) spends 60+ seconds reaching the answer. AISSEE allows 45 seconds.
Recognition answers in 6 seconds. See 1, 1, 2, 6, 24 - factorial - next is 120. No calculation. Pattern memory.
15+ series types. Weekly practice from April. Each type seen 15-20 times. By August: functional recognition. By November: automatic.
Analogies: Marathi background, 65-72% verbal accuracy without training. Numerical and logical: 6 weeks each.
Spatial: Vidarbha plateau, moderate terrain. First-mock: 22-28%. April training: 64-71%. October: 46-54%.
Vakataka dynasty (Vatsagulma branch): ancient Indian dynasties - testable AISSEE history GK.
Poharadevi (Banjara community sacred site): tribal cultural geography of Maharashtra - testable.
Cotton belt of Vidarbha: agricultural geography - testable.
Eight students. One specialist per section. Weekly mocks. Section-wise diagnosis. October conversation. OMR from day one.
Class 6 - Age 10-12. March 31 cutoff. Class 9 - Age 13-15. March 31 cutoff.
