Yavatmal is called the Cotton City.
Vidarbha. Black cotton soil. 46% of the district's cropped area is cotton. Vasantrao Phulsing Naik - 4th Chief Minister of Maharashtra (1963-1975), longest-serving CM of the state - was born at Pusad in this district. Population 2.77 million. Maharashtra state quota at Sainik School Satara. Yavatmal families compete within Maharashtra only.
School preparation addresses English, GK, and Maths partially. Intelligence requires separate preparation entirely. Here is what that preparation looks like from the inside.
Pattern recognition - the five scanning frameworks
Trained children don't guess. They apply a systematic scanning process that finds hidden rules reliably and quickly.
Framework 1 - Orientation: Does the shape's angle change between frames? If yes, identify the rotation: 45°, 90°, 180° clockwise or anticlockwise? Is it consistent?
Framework 2 - Count: Does the number of elements inside or around the shape change? By +1, -1, ×2? Is the count change consistent across frames?
Framework 3 - Shading: Does the shaded region shift in a cycle? Left → right → none → repeat? Top → bottom → diagonal?
Framework 4 - Form: Does the shape itself change type? Circle → square → triangle? Does it follow a consistent sequence?
Framework 5 - Compound check: After applying one framework, is there unexplained variation? If yes, apply another framework.
Each framework takes one week to learn. Practice at 50+ questions per session. By week 5, the child has all five frameworks. Compound patterns - AISSEE ↗'s hardest type - require Framework 5. This is only reachable after the first four are consolidated.
October start completes four frameworks by January. Framework 5 (compound detection) is just forming. AISSEE's compound pattern questions catch children who haven't consolidated this skill.
Number series - 15 types and why each needs specific exposure
The 15+ AISSEE series types and how a Yavatmal child approaches them:
Geometric series: 2, 6, 18, 54. Multiply by 3. Yavatmal's arithmetic-confident children will calculate this. Six seconds if they recognise it. Thirty if they calculate.
Second-order AP: 3, 7, 13, 21, 31. Differences: 4, 6, 8, 10. The differences form an AP. This requires noticing the differences have a pattern - not calculating the original series. Without training, most children miss this.
Fibonacci-type: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13. Each term = sum of two previous. Recognition is instant once trained. Calculation of the underlying rule takes 40-50 seconds.
Cube-based: 1, 8, 27, 64, 125. Perfect cubes. Instant recognition after exposure. Without exposure: the child calculates differences (7, 19, 37, 61) and finds no obvious AP. Confused. Times out.
Yavatmal children with cotton-belt commercial arithmetic will calculate confidently - and time out on cube-based, second-order, and Fibonacci series. Recognition of all 15+ types requires weekly practice across April, May, June, July. No shortcut exists.
Analogies: Marathi-Varhadi dialect background. 65-72% verbal accuracy without training. Numerical and logical: 6 weeks each from April.
Spatial: Vidarbha plateau. Moderate terrain. First-mock: 22-28%. April training: 64-71%.
Vasantrao Naik (longest-serving Maharashtra CM, 1963-1975): Maharashtra political history - testable.
Cotton City of Maharashtra (Yavatmal): India's city nicknames, agricultural geography - testable.
Vidarbha cotton belt: India's major agricultural regions - testable.
Eight students. One specialist per section. Weekly mocks. Section-wise diagnosis. October conversation. OMR from day one.
Class 6 - Age 10-12. March 31 cutoff. Class 9 - Age 13-15. March 31 cutoff.
