Sangrur was the capital of a princely state before it was a Punjab district.
Founded by Sanghu, a Jat, roughly 400 years ago. By 1947, it was the capital of Jind State - one of the Phulkian princely states. When PEPSU formed in 1948, Sangrur became a district instead. The territory has Mahabharata-era mentions, was under the Mauryan Empire by 322 BCE, and experienced the administrative efficiency of Gupta rule in its golden age.
Naresh Goyal - founder and chairman of Jet Airways, once India's 16th richest person according to Forbes - was born in Sangrur city in 1949.
Population 1,225,415 (post-Malerkotla bifurcation). Literacy 67.99%. Malwa region.
Punjab has Sainik School Kapurthala - 67% Punjab state quota. Sangrur families compete within Punjab only.
Pattern recognition, number series, analogies, spatial reasoning. Absent from every school curriculum. Untrained: 20-25%. After 16 weeks from April: 70-80%.
Pattern recognition - the four-phase arc, no shortcuts
Phase 1 (Weeks 1-4): Scanning reflex. Orientation, count, shading, form - checked automatically, without conscious deliberation. This takes 3-4 weeks of repetition to form. 38-46%.
Phase 2 (Weeks 5-8): Compound detection. Two simultaneous rules. Requires Phase 1's automaticity first. 55-65%.
Phase 3 (Weeks 9-12): Speed at AISSEE ↗'s 30-40 second pace. 65-72%.
Phase 4 (Weeks 13-16): Full mocks, diagnosis. 70-80%.
October: Phase 2 half-formed by January. 55-60%.
Number series - agricultural-commercial arithmetic and the time trap
Sangrur's wheat-cotton-sugarcane economy creates practical arithmetic confidence. AISSEE number series traps confident calculators with complex types - second-order AP, Fibonacci, factorial, prime-based - that cannot be calculated within 45 seconds.
Recognition: 6-10 seconds, built through April practice across all 15+ types.
Analogies and spatial reasoning
Verbal: Punjabi (Malwai dialect) dominant. 65-72% verbal accuracy without training. Numerical and logical: 6 weeks each.
Spatial: Flat Malwa plains. First-mock: 17-23%. April training: 61-69%. October: 43-52%.
Jind State (Phulkian dynasty): Punjab's princely states - testable AISSEE history.
Naresh Goyal and Jet Airways: India's aviation industry, business history - testable economic and current affairs GK.
Sangrur's Mauryan and Gupta era connections: ancient India administration - testable.
PEPSU formation (1948) and merger into Punjab (1956): post-independence reorganisation - testable.
Eight students. One specialist per section. Weekly mocks. Section-wise diagnosis. October conversation. OMR from day one.
Class 6 - Age 10-12. March 31 cutoff. Class 9 - Age 13-15. March 31 cutoff.
