10% of India's electricity comes from this district.
NTPC Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station at Singrauli - largest coal-based power station in India. Total capacity: 4,760 MW. Rihand Dam and Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar - one of India's largest man-made reservoirs - sit here. Hindalco aluminium plant. Northern Coalfields Limited. The district that carved out from Sidhi in 2008 became India's "Energy Capital" almost immediately. Population 1.18 million. Literacy 62.36% (low).
MP has Sainik School Rewa. MP state quota. Singrauli families compete within MP only.
Lower literacy districts face a wider AISSEE ↗ gap - particularly on English comprehension. But the Intelligence section is different.
Intelligence is equally unfamiliar to children from 62% literacy districts and 91% literacy districts - because no school syllabus covers it. This is where Singrauli's AISSEE story begins.
A child from NTPC's well-funded company school in Singrauli scores 20-25% on Intelligence without specific training. The same as a child from the smallest village school.
After 16 weeks from April: 70-80%. For both.
Pattern recognition - the week-by-week progression
This is not vague. Here is what happens in each week cluster:
Weeks 1-2: The child learns that visual sequences have scannable properties. They practice scanning for rotation first - does the shape's orientation change? Then size. Then element count. Then shading. By end of week 2, they have a scanning checklist.
Weeks 3-4: Single-rule sequences at increasing complexity. Irregular shapes, non-standard rotations, count changes by non-1 amounts. Accuracy rises from 20-25% to 38-45%.
Weeks 5-6: Compound rules introduced. Two properties change simultaneously - say, rotation AND count increase. The child learns: "After accounting for the rotation, is there still unexplained variation? Yes. Find the second rule." Accuracy temporarily drops (new skill disrupts old performance) then rises.
Weeks 7-8: Compound rule mastery. Accuracy on compound sequences: 50-58%.
Weeks 9-12: Mixed pattern types - some single, some compound - under timed conditions. Speed develops alongside accuracy. 60-70%.
Weeks 13-16: Full AISSEE mocks, section-wise diagnosis. Personalised reinforcement of weak types. 70-80%.
This 16-week arc is not compressible. October start gives 10 weeks. Week 10 performance: 55-60% on a full AISSEE Intelligence section.
Number series - recognising types under industrial confidence
Singrauli's power plant and mining economy creates numerically confident children. Engineering families, technical workers, commercial families - all produce children who approach numbers with confidence.
The AISSEE number series trap works specifically on confident calculators.
Let's trace through a specific example of how this fails:
Series: 2, 5, 11, 23, 47
A confident calculator: differences are 3, 6, 12, 24. These double each time. So next difference is 48. Answer: 47+48=95.
This is correct. And it took 55 seconds.
A trained recogniser: sees three terms - 2, 5, 11. Each term = 2×(previous term) + 1. Recognises this as "multiply-and-add" type. Answer: 2×47+1 = 95. Six seconds.
Same answer. Completely different time. At 45-second AISSEE time limit, the calculator just barely makes it. But for harder series in the same section, they won't.
The recogniser has time to spare for harder questions.
Building this recognition: weekly practice from April across 15+ series types. Each type appears 15-20 times over 4 months. By August: functional recognition. By November: automatic.
Analogies and spatial reasoning
Verbal: Hindi background, 64-70% without training. Numerical and logical: 6 weeks each.
Spatial: Singrauli's Rihand Dam reservoir geography and Vindhyan hills create moderate spatial baseline. First-mock accuracy: 24-30%. April training: 64-72%. October: 46-54%.
NTPC Vindhyachal (largest coal-based power station in India): India's power infrastructure - testable science and technology GK.
Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar: large man-made reservoir - testable physical geography.
"Energy Capital of India": city nicknames - testable GK.
Northern Coalfields Limited: India's coal sector - testable economic GK.
Eight students. One specialist per section. Weekly mocks. Section-wise diagnosis. October honest conversation. OMR from day one. Medical round throughout.
Class 6 - Age 10-12. March 31 cutoff. Class 9 - Age 13-15. March 31 cutoff.
